Changan Automobile has a history that stretches back 154 years. We first entered the automotive industry 33 years ago. Today globally, we have 12 production locations and 32 automotive related plants. We employ 90,000 people, and we produce and sell more than 2.95 million vehicles annually. As one of China’s top four automobile makers and as the number one best-selling Chinese domestic vehicle brand, Changan is the very first Chinese brand to ever produce and sell over one million passenger vehicles in a single year.
As a committed innovation leader, Changan has built the largest Chinese owned R&D organization. Changan’s global R&D operations employs over 10,000 R&D professionals from 15 countries. Four hundred of our R&D professionals are senior experts, and thirteen were recognized by China’s national Recruitment Program of Global Experts. Changan’s global R&D organization currently encompasses dedicated facilities and teams in Chongqing (China), Beijing (China), Hebei (China), Hefei (China), Turin (Italy), Yokohama (Japan), Birmingham (UK), and Detroit (USA). Our global R&D team is able to work collaboratively on vehicle development over a 24-hour a day uninterrupted schedule. Changan’s R&D organization has been ranked No.1 (by the Chinese government) in China’s auto industry, four times over the last eight years. To meet the needs of today’s demanding vehicle owners, we have implemented a tough 10-year and 260,000-kilometer standard for vehicle durability. Changan has two complementary quality systems, which we run during our vehicle product development and validation process to ensure vehicle durability and reliability.

An amazing thirty seven percent of new Changan brand buyers previously owned a JV branded vehicle. The Changan brand has been the No.1 selling domestic Chinese brand for the past nine years.
With our commitment to be a leader in technology, passenger safety and environmental protection, Changan has invested extensively in new energy and smart technology vehicles. Changan strives to launch 34 new energy vehicles (EV, PHEV, Hybrid) in the next decade, with a sales goal of over two million units in that time period. It is our ambition to become a leading international new energy vehicle company. In the area of intelligent vehicle technologies, Changan has mastered over sixty key technologies covering vehicle connectivity and advanced driver assistance. It is worth noting that Changan is now the very first Chinese automaker to have successfully tested an autonomously driven vehicle over a 2,000 kilometer cross country trip.
Changan actively works within global partnerships and jointly manages such ventures as Changan Ford, Changan Suzuki, Changan Mazda, Changan PSA, and Jiangling Holdings. Changan is also the only Chinese automotive brand to have one of its own branded vehicles produced at a joint venture factory managed by a Changan team. This has created a brand new operating model for joint venture partnerships in China.
